• Car:

The easiest and quickest route from Athens to Monemvasia is via the highway A7 to Corinth and Tripoli. At Tripoli you take the direction for Sparta following the signs for Monemvasia. Once in Monemvasia drive through the new town over the bridge and you will find the Hotel Lazareto on your left hand side just before the Castle. The distance from Athens is approx. 285 km., total driving time +/- 3,5 hours.

Another option is after Corinth to take the picturesque road along the coast through Argos, Astros, and Leonidio continuing through mountain roads passing the traditional villages of Kosmas and Geraki.  Follow through to Skala, Vlachiotis, Molai and finally Monemvasia. This option is considerably longer through winding mountain roads (aprox. 330 km - 5 hours from Athens) but well worth the reward, with breathtaking natural beauty of both sea views, canyon passes and the mountainous landscape.

• Ferry:

Starting from 16/06/2012 and until 28/08/2012 you can reach Monemvasia by ferry boat. Departure from Piraeus port every Friday evening at 18:00 with arrival to Monemvasia at 23:40 (duration: 5:40 hours). On the return trip, departure from Monemvasia every Sunday night at 23:40 with arrival to Piraeus port every Monday morning at 5:20.
